Tomoya Uchiyama

Born in 1979. Tomoya graduated from Osaka University’s Graduate School of Frontier Biosciences with a master's degree. While still in graduate school, as head of the Kansai office of the student venture Leave a Nest Co., Ltd., he was in charge of launching its business in Kansai. Tomoya then worked in magazine editorial production in Tokyo for approximately three years. Following that, he joined Nanophoton in 2009 at the invitation of Professor Satoshi Kawata, his former teacher in graduate school. He went on to establish promotion and sales systems in his role as marketing manager. He led the creation of the market for Raman imaging analysis and elevated Nanophoton from obscurity to an industry leading brand. Tomoya then worked for a building materials manufacturer for wooden houses, and promoted DX in sales and marketing within the company of 400 employees. He formulated a 10-year vision and medium-term management plan as sub-leader of a company-wide selection project. Tomoya joined ScienceEdge in December 2021 and appointed as CEO in January 2024. His interests include reading, playing the piano, and spending time with his children.

Taisuke Ota, Ph.D

Born in 1974. Taisuke received his Ph.D. in applied physics from the Graduate School of Engineering, Osaka University. While at university, he also studied laser microscopes at the University of the Philippines and Oxford University to improve his skills. After completing his degree, and a two-year postdoc period, he was involved in the founding of Nanophoton, a university-originated venture of his former teacher, Professor Satoshi Kawata. There he succeeded in developing a Raman microscope, one of their key products, and established sales methods to get the business up and running. He worked as a principal researcher, general manager of product development, general manager of manufacturing, general manager of services, general manager of sales, and international manager for Nanophoton before leaving in 2018. In 2015, while still at Nanophoton, he started ScienceEdge with the support of his former teacher, and he continues working at ScienceEdge to this day. He appointed as CTO in January 2024. His interests include electronic work using a microcomputer and the acoustic guitar. His favorite music genre is blues.
